Vent, Valve & Volt
Half the house lost power

Act now

Emergency: a power line is down

Stay at least 35 feet away from any downed or sagging line, assume it is live, and call 911 or your utility.

Why this happens

Puget Sound Energy says to stay at least 35 feet from a downed line and to assume it is energized. CDC says never to touch a fallen power line.

Do this now

  1. Move away from the line now. Stay at least 35 feet away and keep others and pets away.
  2. Call 911 or your utility.
  3. Do not try to rescue a person or pet touching the line. Call 911.
  4. Do not drive over a downed line.

What to tell the licensed electrician

  • Where the line is down and what it is touching.
