You can fix this
A stiff single handle on other brands also comes down to the cartridge. Match it to your valve and replace it.
Moen's explanation for a stiff handle is sediment or debris in the cartridge, mineral buildup or a damaged seal, and those wear points live inside any single-handle shower cartridge. Other brands' cartridges are specific to their valves: Delta's 1300 and 1400 Monitor series take the RP19804, and its 13 and 14 series take the RP46074. Check your brand's support pages before regreasing; replacing the worn cartridge is the dependable fix.
When to stop. If the cartridge will not come out, stop. Delta recommends a licensed plumber for tub and shower repairs if you do not have plumbing experience.
Each valve takes its own cartridge. The Pfister and Kohler cross-references come from retailer listings, so confirm against your valve.
